ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
A little insight into the life of a photographer
Welcome to my blog! As well as share images from recent photography commissions I hope to give a feel for me as a person and a photographer. Every week brings a new adventure – from commercial photography, business headshots and editorial commissions for magazines through to documentary wedding photography. At the heart of my work is a love for storytelling through images. I bring a documentary photography approach along with a feminine eye for detail to each shoot.
I have a professional background as an Occupational Therapist which has lead to a niche reputation for working in areas needing a more sensitive approach such as charities, social care and prospectus work for schools and colleges.
I live in the beautiful city of York in North Yorkshire and absolutely love the car free existence that living in a cycle friendly place creates. I still get a buzz when I’m able to rock up to a shoot on my bike! My husband Jonny is a musician and so home is a hive of creativity. I’m Mummy to Holly who is in a nutshell my world – she rocks!
I’m proud to be a second generation photographer following in the footsteps of my father Derry Brabbs. Dad is renowned worldwide for his landscape photography and I love that he is still actively working and illustrating amazing books.
The blog is a fantastic place to view images and find out more about my style and approach. More information and specific portfolios can also be found on my websites:
